Korgar från ett avlångt land: Swedish Basket Traditions by Korgen Lyfter in Sweden
We visited this exhibition, “Basket Love” in Borås, Sweden in June 2024 and were fortunate to meet Helena Åberg there, main author and co-organizer of the project and the exhibition. The book has some lovely photos of various traditional Swedish baskets and history related to the project.
See a preview video of this book at this link on instagram @woodspirithandcraft.com.
Fom the “Basket Love” exhibition book for the Korgen Lyfter Project:
87 pages with color photos, text in Swedish and some English
“In Sweden, we have a rich and varied basketry tradition, something there are many examples of in our museum collections. On the other hand, there are fewer and fewer craftsmen who master the technique of making baskets. At the same time, it has become increasingly difficult to find sufficient material for certain basket types due to changes in forestry.
We want to show what a rich basket production Sweden has had and that there is important knowledge still to be taken advantage of. One hope is that more people will be inspired by using and making baskets.“
